Meet Our Team » Elvin Martínez
Elvin is originally from Honduras where he met his wife while she was volunteering with the U.S. Peace Corp. After completing his bachelor’s degree in the United States, Elvin and his wife returned to Honduras where he was a contractor for the U.S. Peace Corps for 2 years and conducted training in both Honduras and Nicaragua. In 1994, they returned to his wife’s home state of Missouri, and Elvin started his career at Home Nursery. Elvin was initially hired to serve as the personnel director of the employee residence facility located at the main farm in Albers, IL. The project was finished in December of 1994, only two months after Elvin joined the Home Nursery team. He oversees maintenance & upkeep of the facilities, develops & enforces resident regulations, maintains records & incident reports, and generally assists the residents in both personal & professional needs. Elvin also coordinates classes at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL for employees and their families who wish to learn English as a second language. On top of all of this, he is in charge of recruiting laborers for all 3 of our locations. Unofficially, Elvin is our designated translator on staff and can often be found translating announcements so we can successfully and efficiently communicate to every member of our team. Elvin is a people-person and he truly enjoys the opportunity he has at Home Nursery to get to know all of our employees. He graduated from Warren Wilson college in Ashville, NC with a bachelor's degree in business and economics as well as Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville with a master's of science in business and management information systems. Elvin became a U.S. citizen in February of 2000.
Joined the Home Nursery family in October of 1994.
