As the Finished Plant Buyer for Home Nursery, Jason Schmitz travels the country to hand-select the finest specimens to bring back to the Midwest. Prior to joining Home Nursery, Jason maintained the athletic fields at Greenville University as Head Groundskeeper. At a local landscape company, he designed and installed beautiful residential landscapes, including hardscapes and water features. Jason's passion for plants began as a child when he helped his father, a high school agriculture teacher, maintain the school's greenhouse. He went on to serve as president of his high school's FFA program and graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture. Jason resides in Highland, IL with his wife and two children. In his spare time, Jason enjoys officiating high school baseball, college football and college basketball.
