Pat began his career working for a local garden center to pay his way through college, but he grew to love the industry so much that he never left. He got his start loading mulch and ended up opening and managing two stores for that company, serving as branch manager for 13 years. In 1998, he left to work for a larger wholesale nursery since he had the ability to “speak the language” of the industry. His background in retail sales gives him the valuable capability of understanding what both sides of the industry deal with on a day-to-day basis providing insight to both his customers and fellow employees. Throughout his career on the wholesale side of things, he developed the skill to take a struggling territory of customers and help transform them into some of his top plant producers. Despite being a University of Kentucky fan all his life, he attended the University of Louisville. Pat has been married for 30 years to a wonderful woman, formerly in the green industry, and they have raised 3 daughters together that aren’t afraid to get dirty.
